Ngapali Beach located in western Myanmar on the Bay of Bengal while not as beautiful as the beaches in the Mergui Archipelago its superior infrastructure has made Ngapali Myanmar’s 
traditional beach location. Famed for its palm lined white sands the bay streches to the horizon with an air of grandeur. Ngapali is Myanmar’s most built up beach resort destination and despite its location is well supported by amenities. The beach continues to grow with a number of the countries richest businessmen developing resorts there.
Things to do in Ngapali Beach
Diving and boat trips

Fishing Villages
At the end of Ngapali Beach there are still operational fishing villages, it is a well spent day walking through these villages and interacting with the locals, see the fresh catch come in and even buy your dinner, the fish doesnt get any fresher than that and usually unbelievabily cheap. tasty responcible travel, buying straight from the source with all the profits going to the locals 🙂 During the mid day you can see the fish drying racks on the beach, large bamboo structures cover sections of the upper beach with the day catch being dried proir to transportation.
Chinlone - Cane Ball - Beach Soccer
In the evening, every evening along the roadside and on the beach small groups of men and boys will gather to play Chinlone, a cane ball game some times with a net other times just kicking the ball around in a circle, the purpose is to ensure the ball never contacts the ground and is done in the most elegant way possible with a fantastic array of tricks and darts. a simple smile is usually enough to get you an invite to join a circle.
Golf Course
Ngapali is home to a tidy 18 hole golf course, clubs and caddie’s can be hired on enquiry.

Flights to Ngapali Beach
Flights into Thadwe (7km from Ngapali) run daily from Yangon which is a 50 minute flight. Regular flights can also be made from Bagan and Inle Lake. For the crazy adventurers it is possible to take a 15 hour bus trip from Yangon which costs USD 16 but it is not advisable.
Transport Thadwe to Ngapali Beach
Many hotels and resorts do pickups from Thandwe airport, if not it is a simple 20 minute taxi ride down to the beach.
